mewithoutYou is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Christian Post-hardcore band. The band consists of vocalist Aaron Weiss, guitarists Michael Weiss and Christopher Kleinberg, bassist Greg Jehanian and drummer Richard Mazzotta. mewithoutYous music is generally dominated by spoken-word vocals and free-ranging, hardcore drums, bass, and guitar. Talking and wailing in dramatic tones and pitches dominate the sound, although melodic sections are well incorporated in many songs.[citation needed] Because the vocals are mostly spoken rather than sung, other band members are allowed great flexibility in harmonic and melodic structure.[citation needed] The band usually strays from typical song structures, featuring effects-laden guitar, a very prominent and distorted bass tone, and bombastic rhythms, resulting in a rather experimental style.[citation needed] In their most recent album, Brother, Sister, the band incorporates more varied instrumentation including percussion instruments, accordion, and harp. Aaron Weiss, songwriter and frontman for mewithoutYou writes lyrics about issues such as unity in the Christian church, suicide, the American dream, money, war and love. They tour in a run-down van run by vegetalbe oil. [1]
